Irish Spiced Beef

A traditional cured and spiced beef dish, perfect for slicing and serving cold or hot.




Ingredients:


  • 3 lbs beef brisket

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

  • 2 tbsp salt

  • 1 tbsp black pepper

  • 1 tbsp ground cloves

  • 1 tbsp ground allspice

  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon

  • 1 tbsp ground nutmeg

  • 1 cup water


Instructions:


  1. Mix spices, sugar, and salt in a bowl.

  2. Rub the mixture all over the beef brisket, covering it completely.

  3. Place the beef in a large resealable bag and refrigerate for 3-5 days, turning daily.

  4. After curing, rinse the beef and place it in a pot with water. Simmer for 2-3 hours until tender.

  5. Slice thinly and serve with mustard, pickles, and soda bread.
