Irish Spiced Beef
A traditional cured and spiced beef dish, perfect for slicing and serving cold or hot.
Ingredients:
3 lbs beef brisket
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tbsp salt
1 tbsp black pepper
1 tbsp ground cloves
1 tbsp ground allspice
1 tbsp ground cinnamon
1 tbsp ground nutmeg
1 cup water
Instructions:
Mix spices, sugar, and salt in a bowl.
Rub the mixture all over the beef brisket, covering it completely.
Place the beef in a large resealable bag and refrigerate for 3-5 days, turning daily.
After curing, rinse the beef and place it in a pot with water. Simmer for 2-3 hours until tender.
Slice thinly and serve with mustard, pickles, and soda bread.
