Instructions

1. Prepare the Apple Filling

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish (8x8-inch or similar).

2. Make the Crumble Topping

  1. Mix dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, oats, and salt.
  2. Cut in butter: Add the cold cubed butter and mix with your fingers or a pastry cutter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Top the apples: Evenly sprinkle the crumble mixture over the apples.

3. Bake & Serve

  1. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the apples are bubbling.
  2. Cool slightly before serving warm with ice cream, whipped cream, or custard.

Tips & Variations

  • Use Irish whiskey: Add 1 tablespoon of Irish whiskey to the apples for extra depth.
  • Swap walnuts or pecans into the topping for extra crunch.
  • Use different apples: A mix of tart and sweet apples adds great flavor.
  • Make it gluten-free: Substitute flour with almond flour or gluten-free flour mix.
